It’s been a long (very long!) while since I’ve posted anything here – and I do feel shamefully guilty for abandoning this site (and my on-going fanfic).
In my defense, I have a lot going on, both personally and professionally, which has made it difficult to keep up with this site.
While I’ve been away, I’ve also been thinking about the direction I want Clouds in my Coffee to take. This started out as a personal blog with only a handful of readers—mostly people I knew in my personal life. I blogged about the things I got up to, classes I attended and the people that I knew. And no one was really interested, which didn’t bother me too much.
Then I started reviewing the books I read and the anime I watched. Soon, I also added my thoughts on the recipes I would try out. All of which made this site a pseudo-lifestyle blog—a mixed up combination of things that I loved but that didn’t fit together in any meaningful way.
So when people asked me, “What do you blog about?” I didn’t really have an answer. Adding to the confusion, I started posting my original fiction here—which went on to become the basis of my first book, Dark Things Between the Shadow and the Soul. Which is all well and good, but it ended up muddying things up further.
So now, here we are. I have on my hands a blog/website that is so fragmented in interests and focus areas that any visitor would be left wondering what this whole thing is all about. Most days, I’m not sure what to write or blog about, since I don’t know whether it would be of interest to anybody still reading this site.
It’s quite obvious—it’s time for a rebrand. More than that, it’s time for a good, long, hard think about what I want from this site.
So, for now, the hiatus will continue until I figure things out. I hope to be back sometime this year with a new direction—and a new URL, most likely.
